About AMIBerlin
AMI Berlin welcomes you, whether you are a professional, a beginner, or simply interested in Arabic music.
AMI Berlin music courses help our students learn oriental Arabic music.
Our courses allow you to better express and share musical ideas in multicultural Berlin through music.
Our focus is on teaching Arabic scales (Maqams), Arabic instruments (Oud, Darbuka, Nay, Violin “Kaman” and Qanun), and vocal techniques. Students bring their interest, voices, and instruments to learn about Arabic music theory and performance.
If you are interested but don’t have an instrument, AMI Berlin can help. Our students take part in either a two-month program or an intensive weekend program. These programs offer you the opportunity to explore Arabic songs, rhythms, improvisation (Taqsim), the history and theory of Arabic music, and much more.
Music connects us:
Here, you’ll discover Arabic music not only from Arab musicians but also from artists of diverse backgrounds who have found their passion in the rhythms and melodies of Arabic music.
The project is supported by the Berlin Project Fund for Cultural Education and the Senate Department for Culture and Europe.
We look forward to meeting you all and making music together. Here, you’ll discover Arabic music not only from Arab musicians but also from artists of diverse backgrounds who have found their passion in the rhythms and melodies of Arabic music.
